iPeng goes iOS5

Just in time for the launch of Apple’s iOS 5, there are new versions of iPeng (1.4.2) and iPeng for iPad (1.2.2) on the App Store which fully support the new Apple firmware.
Apart from that it’s mainly a service release which fixes a few bugs, improves performance with slower hardware and has some better artwork caching.
Have fun!

So my Soundbridge M1001 lost volumne control after the update to 1.4.2. Any suggestions other than the volume 100% setting – which I have done?
Squeezebox 7.6.1 – r33110
I am running two routers – but it worked before. One wireless open-mesh.org mesh router and a standard lynksys.

And I also noticed that it cannot find the MAC address of my server anymore.

The lost MAC probably means that you are no longer directly connected to the server but through the router. Source MAC addresses get removed then so iPeng can’t see that anymore.
I do not understand the thing about the Soundbridge. Could you elaborate about what has changed? Do you no longer see a volume slider? Or does it not work?
Have you changed the server version recently? Are you maybe missing a plugin or need to update it?

The volume shows, slides, but doesn’t have any effect. Any way to input the MAC address manually. (BTW – apple’s control app does not make it through my router config at all. – I was happy yours did.) Also, the MAC address was located by the previous version.
As far as plug-ins and server updates – I am guilty for playing around with plugins. What may be needed to get the volume back?
Great product – BTW – best $ I spent on music equipment.

Hm. Does the volume control work if you use the Web Interface for Squeezebox Server? This sounds like a problem between the server and the SoundBridge to me.
Does everything else work? Is the soundbridge still fully supported?
With the plugin I meant things like IRBlaster or the various plugins to control volume directly at the amplifier (most of the amp specific).
Re MAC: Yes, you can enter the MAC manually, that’s further below on the server settings screen (where it says XX:XX:XX:XX for the Mac), the detected one (shown at the top) is just the default.

yup. Probably the soundbridge…. Doesn’t work in the web interface.

Hey Coolio,
Any plans to integrate iPeng into the new notification centre?
Other than that I am experiencing some issues with iPeng;
- volume gui still appears after a lot of actions, closing etc. (even though I remember seeing this mentioned as a bug fix in a recent update – running version 1.4.2 on iOS5)
- screen goes dark and comes back again, pretty randomly
Thanks! Bram.

Bram,
1. Volume GUI: There are a lot of cases where it’s actually correct (or at least unavoidable) to see the volume HUD:
- whenever you use the volume keys.
- If you use the Playback feature whenever the volume actually changes. This is also the case when entering the App/starting playback (because the actual volume is server driven) and when exiting the App (because iPeng restores the original volume).
2. Screen goes dark: Please check the Settings->iPeng Settings->Proximity Sensing switch.
3. Notification Center: Do you mean the lock screen should show NowPlaying information or what kind of notifications would you want to see?
You are right about the NowPlaying info on the lock screen although that only works with iPeng’s local playback (you can’t show the SB playback info).

Hey Coolio,
Thanks for the replies!
The volume GUI makes sense now (and thing which make sense are always less annoying than those who don’t
).
Set the proximity sensor to off now – will most likely solve that issue.
Indeed I was referring to the lock screen rather than the notification centre, but I guess that will never work while streaming
Cheers! Bram.

Um. It will work while streaming to the iPhone/iPod. After your comment I did already do this for the iPad version that came to the App Store yesterday and the next iPhone version will have it, too. Thanks for the reminder.

I get some ipeng crashes with iOS 5.1 on ipad2, are these known errors? Is there a new release imminent?

I’m not aware about specific issues with iOS 5.1, is there anything you can reproduce?
There is a bigger update waiting for App Store approval for a while right now, we hope to get it approved this or early next week.
